I mentioned in my last post that I haven't been sewing much and it's true.
I had already started this dress a number of weeks ago and put it to the side because I didn't think I would like how it would turn out. I don't have a lot of experience in making clothes and so I tend to be intimidated by it.
But with 4th of July coming up I really wanted her to have a cute dress for the holiday so I thought I would pull out the dress and actually finish it and I'm pretty happy I did because I love how it turned out!
To make this dress I followed a tutorial on the Lil Blue Boo blog.
It's a great tutorial and perfect for beginners!
The pattern didn't have pockets but I decided to add a couple to see how I like it.
Since it was my first time making this pattern, this first dress is like a trial run.
It's far from perfect but now that I've done it once I know what adjustment and changes to make for the next dress!
I think the next time I make a dress I want one that doesn't have the tie straps.
The tie straps are great for beginners because they are simple and easy to do!
But Alaya didn't quite love me trying to tie them nor does she hold still very long!
But I still think they are cute! And since they tie, you can easily adjust the height of the dress which is nice.
Now that I have officially finished a dress for her I think I might have the itch to make another one!
Maybe even try my hand at a little more challenging pattern...maybe!
Until then, we will be outside enjoying these last few days of June and getting things ready to celebrate the Fourth of July! What fun holiday traditions do you do to celebrate The Fourth?
Thanks for stopping by!
