Family Fun Weekend :)

Do you have any big plans for Labor Day weekend?!
I'm excited to be going back to the town I grew up in and have a lil "Family Fun Day" reunion.
It's been quite awhile since all of the cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc...have all been able to get together.
Tomorrow we are all meeting up and having a day of food, games, and more food.
(My family likes to eat!)
My aunt asked me to bring a few of my craft items. I normally have random crafts already made but this time I didn't so I've been busy working on a few things this past week. I thought I'd give you a peek at a few of the new projects I've made.
First up, a couple of baby quilts:

And I put together a cute little doll quilt/mini quilt:

And I got hooked on making mug-rugs!
And I just HAD to make some Hawkeye items for my Iowa-loving family!
Just a couple more pics I promise..
I put together a couple small ruffle owls to take with my stuffed monsters & stuffed elephants.

And last but not least, I made another zipper pouch!

I LOVE the funky pink cheetah print I used for the inside.
It sure gives it a POP of color!

So what do you think?
Think my family will like some of these items??...
I also made some fun fabric rossette magnets but I just whipped them together so I don't have a picture.
Who knows what else I'll get made tonight last minute before we leave!! ;)

Have an awesome Labor Day weekend friends!!

Spot the Quilts

How many quilts can you spot in this picture?!
Five.
I have 2 quilt orders, 1 Christmas Quilt, my Square in Square block I need to baste, and the start of another random quilt in the bottom corner.
A couple of those quilt tops are done and I need to get my butt busy basting them.
 I'm slightly procrastinating.
I hope to get at least one of them done by the end of the week.
But as you can see, I have a lot of projects going on.

Aside from quilts, I've been busy with gifts.
A dear friend of mine is leaving for college this weekend and I wanted to make something special for her and her new dorm so I decided to make a quilted pillow!
I love this pillow and hope she does too!

I LOVE Moda's Simply Color collection.
I used the fabric left over to make this cute little quilt block:

I've also made a few more coasters like the one's I shared with you this past week.
I did a different pattern on these and love how they turned out!
I don't ever use coasters but I think I'm going to start because they are just too much fun and too cute not to!

Back-2-School Gift

My husband's a teacher and had to go back to work this week.
Summer went by too fast as always.
I wanted to give a few of the teachers a little something just as a 'Back to School' gift to wish them another great year!
So I got to thinking...

Remember the hexagons I hand-sewn together to make a block.
I couldn't decide whether or not to use it in a quilt or turn it into a pillow.
I through both those ideas out the window and decided to make cute little quilted coasters for the teachers!
Teacher's always have drinks and cups on their desks that can make a wet mess so I thought a coaster would be perfect!! I hope they like them!
I think they turned out pretty cute..
What do you think?
I'm going to add a little tag that says,

"Summer went faster than a roller-coaster
Here's to another fast and fun year!"

If you were a teacher, would you use a coaster at your desk?
My mom isn't a teacher, she is a secretary and she has already put an order in for one!
I'm sure I'll be making of these as gifts in the future...

Swoon! More Hexies!

I've been unable to show you a picture of a baby quilt I had been working on because I didn't want my sister to know about it because it was for her my nephew.
I'm excited to finally be able to share with you his quilt and of course a couple pictures of him too because he is nothing less than precious, handsome, sweet, and adorable!

This is Grayson.
Isn't he precious?!!
He has the darkest soft black hair that would make you grit your teeth as you rub your hands through it.
I'm gritting my just thinking about it-can't get enough of him! I miss him like crazy!
These pictures are from last Friday when he was born.
(Wow! I can't believe he's already a week old!)
Can you tell I am one proud aunt?!
I gave him as much cuddles and love as I could for the short time I saw him.
hate that my sister lives 3 hours away and I don't get to see him as often as I'd like.

As for the quilt I made Grayson...
I made a simple strip quilt and decided to go with colors that are in his nursury.
Gray, yellow, and red.
For fun I added the 'G' to the corner to make it a little extra special.
I hope he likes it!!

With that quilt done, I've started another.
Kinda.
You know how I'm liking obsessed with hexagons?
I was teaching my friend how to hand-sew hexagons and planned to just make a small hexagon flower..
But it turned into this.

I'm still trying to decide whether I want to use it as a quilt block or turn it into a pillow.
So for now, I'm just going to hang it above my sewing table and just stare at it.
I started this on Monday and just now finished. It's such a slow process but SO worth it I think.

Swoon!
Am I the only one who loves to just stare at hand-sewn hexagons?
If not, here is some eye candy...

Do I have you hooked?
